Link shortlisted for prestigious National Insurance Awards

Link has been shortlisted for the Diversity and Inclusion Award at the 2022 National Insurance Awards.

We were nominated for our work in 2021 coordinating Insurance industry-wide efforts to promote LGBTQ+ inclusion and to connect individuals from the community – as well as those who support it – across organisations and across the market.

I’m incredibly proud that Link, the LGBTQ+ Insurance Network has been recognised for the progress made, and efforts in 2021 to drive forward LGBTQ+ inclusion in Insurance. Being nominated for the National Insurance Awards, Inclusion and Diversity Award is a great honour and testament to the hard work of Link, its committee, and the support of the members,
Link Chair Maurice Rose.

In particular, our nomination recognised the tremendous success of the Link Insurance Pride 2021 campaign. This saw us organise an industry-wide competition for insurance firms to design a t-shirt that promoted Pride, the LGBTQ+ community, and the importance of inclusion. The aim was to celebrate the creativity within the industry, with the winners having their organisation’s t-shirt printed and worn within their organisation.

Although sadly London Pride did not go ahead in 2021, the campaign was a resounding success, with 17 of the biggest insurance companies taking part. When all the designs had been submitted, voting was opened to the public to choose their favourite. After an intense week of voting, the competition received 1,447 total votes, and Chubb Insurance crowned the winners.

The campaign raised £20,000 for the youth homeless charity the Albert Kennedy Trust (akt), with more donations earmarked for London Friend and the LGBT Foundation.

The National Insurance Awards are organised annually by Insurance Today in partnership with Continuity, Insurance & Risk (CIR), and supported by the Chartered Insurance Institute. The awards will take place on 22 March 2022 at the London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square.
